Late Summer to Early Fall Home Decor

I love fall. In fact, the -ber months are my absolute favorites. Seasonal transition times are always up for debate. For instance, I happen to like waiting to decorate for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving, while others think anything after Halloween is fair game. I am from Plymouth, MA so I do have a soft spot for Thanksgiving, but mostly I don’t like to rush my favorite time of the year!

With that said, I completely understand why summer people would rather wait until the very last minute to acknowledge the coming of fall! Whether you wait for Labor Day or October 1st to transition your decor from summer to fall, August is the time to start shopping in order to avoid missing out on your favorites of the season. If you see something you know you’d love to see in your home in October, grab it now and store it away!

A great way to decorate for the seasonal transition is to keep decor in the warm color palette of fall, yet with the lightness of summer. As the season moves on, you can add in deeper colors of plum, bronze, burgundy, and gold. This keeps decor feeling fresh and new all season long. Happy decorating!
