Paint Color Matching Made Easy: My Favorite Free Website

Maybe you found the perfect Benjamin Moore color but prefer using Sherwin-Williams paint. Or maybe your favorite designer shared a Farrow & Ball color, but you want a more affordable alternative. While you can try to get that color matched at the paint store (which can sometimes be hit or miss), or you can try to find a similar color formula used by your favorite paint brand.
For years, I’ve used one free website to quickly find the closest paint color matches across brands. It’s one of my favorite tools for decorating and creating whole house paint palettes, and since we don’t gate keep around here, I’m sharing it with you.
What Is MatchMyPaintColor.com?
MatchMyPaintColor.com is a free paint color matching website that helps you find similar paint colors across major paint brands. You’ll find Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, Behr, PPG, Valspar, Farrow & Ball.
Type in a color name or a paint number and you’ll immediately get the nearest lookalikes from other brands. This can be especially useful if your local stores doesn’t carry a specific brand or you’re trying to keep costs down.
While the site uses digital colors to find matches, this can still be very helpful in narrowing down your color search. Once you find a few Behr close matches of your favorite Farrow & Ball color, pick up swatches and check them in your own space to see what actually works on your walls.
Why I Love This Website
There are a few reasons I keep coming back to this site when working on paint palettes and mood boards. The biggest one is that the website is refreshingly simple. Just type in a paint color, select and brand, and see similar colors. There’s no need to sign up for an account, or download an app, easy peasy.

Another way I like to use Match My Paint Color is to find similar shades across a range of budgets. In the example above, there are close alternatives to Farrow & Ball Pointing from Benjamin Moore, Valspar, and Sherwin-Williams. They’re not perfect matches, but they land near enough to be worth a look.
Below, I repeated the process for Farrow & Ball’s very popular Skimming Stone and Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue. Those pairings aren’t exact either, though they have a comparable depth.
